Corporate cycling days at West Ashling

Social team building activities for any group size

Group cycling and bike hire in West Sussex

West Ashling is a different day out to Queen Elizabeth Country Park. This is the flatter, more social option, sitting just outside Chichester with easy access to vineyard stops and the coastal paths around Chichester Harbour rather than hill climbs and mountain bike trails.

If your team is after a relaxed ride with plenty of time to socialise, rather than a physical challenge, this is the location to pick.

A relaxed ride through the Sussex countryside

Most rides from West Ashling head out along the Salterns Way, a flat, largely traffic free route that loops around Chichester Harbour, taking in Bosham, Itchenor and the water's edge along the way.

There are no real hills to speak of, so the pace suits conversation as much as it does exercise and groups tend to ride two or three abreast rather than in a long single file. It's the kind of ride where people arrive back having actually talked to each other, which is usually the whole point of the day.

Built for a social, fun day out

If what you're after is genuinely group activities rather than a fitness challenge, West Ashling is built for that.

The flat terrain means nobody will be struggling to climb ascents while the rest of the group waits, so conversations carry on from the moment you set off to the moment you stop. It works well as a corporate fun day out for teams who want time together more than they want a physical adventure, and it's an easy sell to anyone in the group who wouldn't normally call themselves a cyclist.

Finishing at the vineyard

Ashling Park Vineyard makes for a natural end point with vineyard tours, tastings, a gin school, cafe, venue hire, dining and even overnight lodge accommodation, all available on site.

Ashling park is an ideal events venue for corporate and group gatherings and we will be happy to help plan your day or stay at the venue. A tasting session typically adds an hour or so to the day, while a full lunch or dinner stretches it further, so it's worth deciding in advance whether you want to keep things brief or turn your group activity into a full team building day out. Either way, it's an easy way to round off the ride with something to show for it beyond tired legs.

Cycling routes at West Ashling

The Ashling Park Estate is an ideal starting point for riding the Saltern's Way, a 19km circular route around Chichester Harbour which takes in Bosham, Itchenor, Dell Quay and Fishbourne via flat bridleways and quiet country lanes with fabulous sea views. There are lots of places to stop for a bite or drink along the way and the ferry crossing between Bosham and Itchenor is a highlight.

To the north of Ashling Park lies Kingley Vale Nature Reserve, famous for its ancient yew trees and spectacular views and is the perfect trail for more adventurous riders. It offers superb mountain biking with a huge network of bridleways.

We will be happy to suggest a route to suit your groups requirements.

What our corporate clients say

"Excellent company for corporate events. We had a fantastic experience with Southern eBike Rentals from start to finish. They helped us plan every fine-tuned detail for a charity cycling challenge, and we felt completely looked after throughout the process.

Olly was brilliant in helping me organise everything in the lead-up. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, especially when it comes to the intricacies of route planning and logistics. On the day, Paul was also excellent, he was very helpful in making sure everything ran smoothly.

The bikes were in excellent condition and a joy to ride. Thanks to the team's support, we pulled off a fantastic event and raised money for a great cause. Highly recommended!"

Group sizes and booking

Rentals at West Ashling need to be booked in advance, with a minimum of two eBikes per booking, and both half day and full day options are available.

We'd recommend getting in touch a few weeks ahead of your preferred date, particularly if you're planning to combine the ride with a vineyard visit, since that needs booking separately with Ashling Park.

Getting here

West Ashling sits just a few miles outside Chichester, with easy access from the A27 and A259. Bikes are collected from our pop up hire point at Concierge Camping, which has its own parking on site, so groups arriving by car have somewhere straightforward to leave vehicles for the day.

For anyone travelling from further afield, Chichester itself is well connected by both road and rail, making it a manageable base to arrive at before heading out to West Ashling.
