Kingley Vale, the Trundle and Ashling Park Vineyard
Scenic mountain bike ride with views to the coast and a glass of sparking wine to finish
Mountain bikes only as this is a mainly off-road route. Adults and teenagers who are confident bike riders
Easy by mountain biking standards but somewhat challenging by other cycling standards!
17 miles. Can be done as a half day but arguably better extended to a full day with a vineyard tour and lunch.
Depart from Ashling Park
Grab a coffee at the Vineyard Cafe before riding through the pretty village of West Ashling on a quiet country lane before heading off-road.
Up to Kingley Vale
A long steady climb to the top of Kingley Vale is rewarded with fabulous views from the ancient burial mounds over the yew forest to the Sussex coast.
It's time for a stop!
The steady descent from Kingley Vale ends in the village of Chilgrove where the White Horse is a lunch option before heading towards West Dean where you can visit the estate and gardens, Weald & Downland Museum or stop at the pub or café.
A post lunch "trundle" up a big hill
The long climb up the Trundle is rewarded with wonderful views over Chichester with its cathedral and harbour, before a long grassy descent to the West.
Down to Ashling Park Vineyard
There are a few more off-road undulations to tackle before arriving at delightful Ashling Park where you can visit the vineyard and refresh with a glass of award-winning sparkling English wine.
We'll be waiting for you back at Ashling Park where you can enjoy a cold glass of sparkling white wine and finish your day with a vineyard tour and tasting or a late lunch or dinner.
